Al-Isra 17:58

Word by word

وَإِن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا نَحْنُ مُهْلِكُوهَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُوهَا عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا ۚ كَانَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مَسْطُورًا

And there is no city but that We will destroy it before the Day of Resurrection or punish it with a severe punishment. That has ever been in the Register inscribed.

هذا إخبار من الله عز وجل بأنه قد حتم وقضى بما قد كتبه عنده في اللوح المحفوظ أنه ما من قرية إلا سيهلكها بأن يبيد أهلها جميعهم أو يعذبهم ( عذابا شديدا ) إما بقتل أو ابتلاء بما يشاء وإنما يكون ذلك بسبب ذنوبهم وخطاياهم كما قال عن الأمم الماضين ( وما ظلمناهم ولكن ظلموا أنفسهم ) [ هود 101 ] وقال تعالى ) وكأين من قرية عتت عن أمر ربها ورسله فحاسبناها حسابا شديدا وعذبناها عذابا نكرا فذاقت وبال أمرها وكان عاقبة أمرها خسرا ) [ الطلاق 7 ، 8 ]
