Face — from true north
What the Qibla is
The direction Muslims face in prayer, towards the Kaaba in the Sacred Mosque in Makkah. Wherever you stand on earth, it is the shortest path along the globe to that point.
How this is calculated
We compute the great-circle bearing from your coordinates to the Kaaba (21.4225°N, 39.8262°E). The result is measured clockwise from true north, not magnetic north.
Using the live compass
On a phone that reports its heading, the needle turns as you turn, so the Kaaba icon points at the Qibla. Hold the phone flat and away from metal. A mosque's mihrab remains the most reliable check.
