Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Hafiz Ibn Kathirثم قال تعالى يذكرهم بما كانوا عاهدوا الله من قبل هذا الخوف ، ألا يولوا الأدبار ولا يفروا من الزحف ، ( وكان عهد الله مسئولا ) أي : وإن الله تعالى سيسألهم عن ذلك العهد ، لا بد من ذلك .

Al-Ahzab 33:15
Word by wordوَلَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ عَـٰهَدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مِن قَبْلُ لَا يُوَلُّونَ ٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ ۚ وَكَانَ عَهْدُ ٱللَّهِ مَسْـُٔولًا
And they had already promised Allāh before not to turn their backs [i.e., flee]. And ever is the promise to Allāh [that about which one will be] questioned.
